It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Washington, DC Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, Incorporated’s website. I am Lady Marie Bowe Quick, and I have the distinct honor of serving as the third President of this illustrious chapter. Since being charted on the campus of Howard University in 2012, the chapter has made a footprint in the lives of the residents of the District of Columbia. We have served closely with African American leaders in Washington, DC and several other leaders of the nation on Capitol Hill. We are also partnering with Children’s National Medical Center to bring awareness to the community about Sickle Cell Disease, supporting women, young teenage mothers and families in area shelters and programs, working with teens to develop future leaders, raising and donating money to the United Negro College Fund, supporting and promoting literacy along with many other projects, we have extended the support necessary to make sure that many are better today than they were yesterday. It’s through our national framework and direction that we focus our efforts and assistance.
It is a delight to serve with a diverse group of very talented women that have a true love for people, a heart for the community and a genuine desire to give and to give generously. Over the last decade the chapter has hosted a Swing Out Sickle Cell Golf Fundraising Weekend, partnered with the National Women’s Democratic Club to recognize African American Trailblazers, and worked closely Children’s National Medical Center’s Department of Hematology /Oncology and the Edward J. Miller, Sr. Blood Donor Center to increase minority blood donations and sickle cell awareness. We continue to support the work and fundraising efforts of the UNCF (United Negro College Fund) , NAACP ( National Associations of the Advancement of Colored People) , NCNW (National Council of Negro Women) , St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and March of Dimes.

ABOUT US
The chapter continues to develop strong partnerships with other service-oriented organizations to provide a strong community network to support senior citizens in the district, sickle cell patients at Children’s National Hospital Center and help area survivors of domestic violence. In addition to donating much needed financial support and supplies for basic human needs, we roll up our sleeves and volunteer in our community by hosting blood drives, mentoring teens, cleaning and beautifying our communities, and promoting literacy. Nationally and locally, we have formed coalitions with organizations to include the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), Coalition of Concern Black Christian Men (CCBCM), National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), March of Dimes, American Association of Retired People (AARP), St. Jude and many other human rights, social service, and community-based volunteer organizations. It is our desire to make a positive and lasting difference in the lives of the people we serve.
